Aleecat is the nickname of Alan Merrill, a rock n roll singer songwriter with a unique and bizarre career.

Welcome to the Aleecat homepage. Alan "Aleecat" Merrill has had hit singles as the lead singer of the bands Vodka Collins, and The Arrows. He was the singer and songwriter on the original 1975 RAK records version of "I love rock 'n roll", as recorded by The Arrows. The song is an international rock mainstay today, covered by well known artists around the world. He had chart hits as frontman-lead singer of The Arrows, with "Touch Too Much" and "My Last Night With You", produced by legend Mickie Most on RAK-EMI records. He also had hits with his band Vodka Collins in Japan, with the songs "Automatic Pilot", "Billy Mars" and "Sands Of Time". Aleecat has hosted a TV series in both Japan ("Young 720") and the UK ("The Arrows Show"), and acted in an HBO TV series ("Encyclopedia Brown") in the USA. Always changing and keeping it fun, this is an artist to watch if you're looking for something a bit different.

In February of 2004 Aleecat started recording a new solo album in London with drummer Peter Phipps (ex-Gary Glitter Band) and bassist Dave Glover (ex-Brian Connolly's Sweet), at Stone Room Studio in Shepherd's Bush. The recording has been released in October '04, titled Alan Merrill / "Aleecat", on MEC Records.

Also, Vodka Collins released a reissue compilation album in August 2004 titled "Boys In The Band" on Polystar-Felicty Records in Japan. It is a mix of choice cuts from three Vodka Collins albums done in the 1990s, "Chemical Reaction", "Pink Soup" and "Boys Life". A tour was planned for October '04 to promote the album . All songs on "Boys In The Band" were written and sung by Alan Merrill.

Out now, an Arrows reissue compilation, "A's, B's, and Rarites", which was released January 2005, featuring the lead vocals of Alan Merrill. The album has at least 9 never before released Arrows tracks on it, including some very rare titles produced by Mickie Most in the mid 70s.

March 2005, the Vodka Collins EMI reissue of 1972's "Tokyo-New York" album. This is the first millennium reissue of the recording.

June 2006, The power pop "Merrill 1" solo album is reissued after many years dormant. September '06 Alan Merrill releases a new solo album titled "At The Candy Shop" featuring many stellar guests.

April 2007, Alan Merrill is featured on bass guitar and several vocals on the Ron Wood Tribute album out of Switzerland, by Kurious Kurt and the Zug Zug Gang.

June 2007, "I love rock n roll" solo maxi single by Alan Merrill, with special guests including Pete Phipps, Dave Glover, Darrel Bath, Felix Cavaliere, Sir Mack Rice, Billie Ray Martin, and more.

October 2007, Alan Merrill releases the maxi single "Rive Gauche," a tribute to the hits of The Left Banke, with bonus tracks. Guest players include Sandy Gennaro (Joan Jett and The Blackhearts) and Tommy Mandel (Bryan Adams band).

In May, June, and July 2008 there will three Alan Merrill solo releases. A live album, "The Aleecat, Live In Japan." Plus the 6 song maxi single EP "Hard Road." Also there's the retrospective "Alien In Tokyo," with 17 unique mixes of tracks recorded between 1969-1971. That's the summer recording release schedule of 2008 for Alan Merrill, who will be taking a break in the summer from touring. Recordings and live shows scheduled for 2008 and through 2009.

Alan Merrill has started 2010 with a new solo album "The Face Of 69" (The collections Vol.1) and January, August and November tours of Japan, which were very successful, as well as television (The Ultimate Chart Show) and interviews in Germany. As always he's playing local shows in New York City, both solo acoustic and band backed. In February 2011 Alan released a new album titled "Numbers" (The Collections, Vol. 2) featuring a diverse 20 song selection, followed by "Snakes And Ladders" (Thew Collections Vol.3) out in January 2012.

Alan has recently toured, headlining live shows in England, Japan and Europe. His most recent tour to England was a big success in November 2011. Many photos of the tours are in the photo albums/picture book sections on this website.
